This is what Ethicon has to say about the SW100 EndoSuture: The Suture Assistant is a sterile single-patient-use instrument designed to secure suture knots intracorporeally. This instrument has two levers:
The first enables you to load the instrument and open the grasper, and the second contains a ratchet mechanism for controlled deployment of knots. Designed for use with the appropriate ENDOPATH® Trocars. Trocar size depends on needle that is used.
Features include: Suture reload unit with six-inch ETHIBOND EXCEL® Polyester Suture - size 0 or size 2- 0 and SH needle Suture reload unit with six-inch VICRYL® - polyglactin 910 Suture size 2-0 and SH needle Shaft retractor button on both sides for loading knot/grasper cartridges. Reload Unit is a sterile single-patient device consisting of a knot/grasper cartridge comprised of approximately 6 inch - 15cm - suture with pre-tied knot and an attached needle.
