This is what Covidien has to say about the LigaSure LF5544: The LigaSure Advance™ pistol grip (LF5544) is a monopolar tip laparoscopic vessel sealer and divider that offers multifunction capability in one instrument. The combination of advanced monopolar energy and LigaSure™ sealing technology may allow surgeons to reduce their exchanges between dissecting, ligating and grasping instruments during procedures.
The LigaSure Advance™ pistol grip is designed for use in laparoscopic procedures. The instrument's 44 cm shaft provides extended reach and increased access to target structures. Procedural applications for this device include:

- Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy
